Partially EU funded project

The project is part of the larger HELRA contract in which VR Track is responsible for the safety device and consulting work. The project improves the flexibility of the Helsinki rail yard and decreases the sensitivity of distractions. The train traffic between Helsinki and Pasila is 74 trains per hour on average. HELRA contract aims to increase this capacity up to 90 trains per hour. This increases the train traffic by 200 trains per one day.
The construction planning continues to the very end of the year 2018. The construction itself was started in 2016. The change in the track model is expected to be completed in 2020. All in all, the project has stayed on schedule and all the accidents have been avoided.
